A message from our Co- Founder, Yianni Pavlou

I hope you and your family are all well at this time of Lockdown and huge uncertainty not just in SA but around the world. At a time when the World’s Equity, Bond and Commodity prices have plummeted, Crude oil and interest rates at record lows it certainly feels like there is nowhere to hide. An invisible killer haunts us all and the world and way of living as we know it is no longer.

Rest assured, the way the world functions and the way we used to live will change. I believe things will change for the better, we will improve in the way we treat each other, run our businesses, invest our money, elect our Governments, treat our planet, employ staff and look after our Health.

Throughout all this chaos the one asset class that hasn’t literally halved in value, is physical Property. Granted that the Listed REITS / Property Funds have been pounded, this is not a factor of the actual properties but rather the gearing of these companies and the expectation of Rental payment pressure to come as well as Loan to Value Ratios to mention a few. Furthermore, these companies do not represent the entire property sector and are merely a part of the sector as a whole. Post COVID-19, property will have its challenges in areas such as rental collection, professional property management and possibly funding. The one thing that is for certain is that opportunities will arise amid the confusion that surrounds us all and property will once again prove to be the Asset class of choice for those wishing to build long term sustainable wealth.

In the end business will resume and for this reason we need to be prepared for it.
